jigger
I thought it would be fun to hear about everyones Ebay puzzle buying or selling experiences. When you bid/buy, do you bid on new or old puzzles? If they're CHEAP do you bid/buy even if you don't much care for the subject matter? Do you buy for re-sale purposes and if so, do you make a good amount of money on them?
Have you ever paid way more for a puzzle than you ever thought you would? If so, was it for a recent limited edition or an antique wooden one, or just one you couldn't find anywhere else and just had to have? I just bought my daughter an Obama JIGSAW that looks interesting and fun. Neither one of us is crazy about him as Prez but I suppose in years to come it could have some value. Better yet, we could stick a photo of Elvis over his face and do him that way! hehehe
Do you bid on/buy a puzzle a week? a month? a year? or do you bid on/buy many a week, month, year? I buy WAY too many a week and need to step back for awhile. Spring is just around the corner after all! I love to dig in the dirt and I plant many perennial vines, shrubs, and trees every Spring and Fall.
Some sellers box and pack well and others just wrap the puzzle box in brown paper or stick it in a bubble mailer. I have had several expensive old wooden puzzles come with broken pieces and crushed boxes due to the sellers bad shipping methods. I really hate when that happens! In my 10 years of being an Ebay member I have never left a negative. I have come close a couple of times though. I have left only 1 neutral in those 10 years.
One last thing- Is a sellers feed-back an important factor in bidding on/buying a puzzle? If its a used puzzle, do you e-mail the seller to make sure they will guarantee it is complete? Good sellers will give you a couple of weeks to assemble the puzzle. If incomplete they will refund the purchase price. Sellers that just count the pieces and say it's all there are paticularly annoying to me. I usually avoid those kinds of sellers unless it's a rare hard-to-find jig. So far (knock on wood) I have never gotten a JIGSAW with missing pieces.
I have 47 items on my watchlist now. 46 of them are vintage old JIGSAW and the other a new still sealed JIGSAW . 2 are ending within the hour so I must go and check on them. I swear they're the last ones I'll bid on - today anyways |l
